Excursions

Nearby the Pousada the following trekkings are possible:  

• Local guides can take you around Santa Luzia to show the way local agriculture is practiced, to make trekkings in the forest, to go birdwatching, to explain the daily life in the village community, or to explain the way some plants and trees are used for medicinal purposes.
• You can go horse riding from the village of Irurama (5 km), e.g. to the beaches at the Rio Tapajos.
• By 'canoa' from Santa Maria to Lago Jua; a beautiful little creek, at some places very narrow and overgrown with plants and trees.
• Just in between São Brás and Vila Nova there is an orchid centre. It is a nice walk from Santa Luzia through the forest to Vila Nova.
