Most inhabitants make a living from small scale agriculture, mainly manioc, from which they make all kinds of products to sell on the market. The way the land is cultivated hasn't changed much over the past 100 years, and most of the products are of indigenous origin. To sell their products the inhabitants leave at 4 p.m, carrying their goods to a bus stop 1.5 km away and go from there to the market in Santarém.
